Fragmentary white marble block with projecting moulding on top, broken off at left, right and below ( 0.31 0.145 0.11 ).

 Inscribed on front face under the moulding ( 0.30 0.095 0.095 ) in 6 columns of two lines each, followed by one or more lines on the whole width. 0.018 at lines 1 to 12, 0.022 at line 13; tall beta with rather large loops, small theta and omicron, slanting sigma, upsilon with tall vertical stroke and largely open bars. Findspot. End of fourth or beginning of third century B.C.

Found before 1960 at Cyrene: exact findspot unrecorded.

Seen in 1960 by Pugliese Carratelli in Shahat: Cyrene Museum.

Seen by C. Dobias-Lalou in 1977 at the same place.

Commentary

From the layout of letters at line 3, we are able to deduce the dimensions of the missing parts; hence three columns mentioning three other men are lost at left; as for the following line, the formula might be more or less complete. Pugliese Carratelli thought that the stone was complete below. C. Dobias-Lalou is not convinced and therefore not quite sure that the stone was a base.
