(The statue of) [so and so, son of] [---] nes, a Cyrenaean, [Akin] (to the king), general of the [places throughout Libya], was dedicated to all the gods by Hippis son of Hippis, a member of the [---] .
The dimensions of the lost part may be inferred from l. 3, where Λιβύην seems probably better than Κυρήνην (see discussion by Laronde, 1987 Laronde, A., 1987, Cyrène et la Libye hellénistique. Libykai historiai de l’époque républicaine au principat d’Auguste, Paris - see in bibliography , pp. 418-419) and was later on confirmed through IGCyr080900.
At l. 2, the article would provide too long a restoration, whereas at l. 4 πρώτων φίλων, a title that would seem a good suggestion, is undoubtedly too long.
For the date, on basis of the lettering, Ghislanzoni proposed the end of the second or beginning of the first century B.C. Moretti thought that it was rather the first half of the second B.C. Eventually, the discussion of the aulic titles led Laronde to the second half of that century.
